First SUFINDA Training Programme Under Way

The Sustainable Finance Data Initiative (SUFINDA) has begun its first training programme with seven partner universities - in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Costa Rica, Ghana, The Gambia, Nigeria and Uganda - addressing finance and risk in adaptation and mitigation, primarily in renewables, forestry and agriculture.

The training is delivered wholly online and asynchronously to accommodate busy schedules and enable effective learning across different spatial locations.

The general aims of the programme are to:

  • Introduce key themes of investment, the role of capital in changing historical investment paths to underpin a sustainable and low-carbon economic framework and the development of climate finance;

  • Build an understanding of the issues surrounding effective climate and sustainable finance in the Global North and South;

  • Raise awareness of the importance of this topic to a sophisticated understanding of global political and economic developments.
